Only 3 days left in 2010! Does your New Year's resolution include improving your fitness level? Getting healthier? Cooking healthier meals for your family? If so, the Snowman Marathon is for you! Get your registration in early, as we have a limited number of spaces. We will keep you motivated with fun and prizes. Our nutrition focus this year will be on fruits and vegetables. Each week we are going to look at different ways to increase you fruit and vegetable intake. My favorite fruit this time of year is the clementine. They are so cute! They have a thinner skin and are much easier to peel than an orange. Even kids can peel and eat them on their own. Since fresh fruits are more limited in the winter, I also like to use a lot of dried fruit in my meals and snacks. Gone are the days when dried fruits are limited to raisins and prunes. Look for dried cherries - mix with a handful of almonds and you have a crunchy and tart snack in a few seconds!
Feel free to post questions about nutrition. I'd love to hear from you!
